When choosing a solid wood multi-layer board, in addition to the appearance, the internal quality is particularly important. Solid wood multi-layer board, also known as plywood, is one of the commonly used materials for furniture, usually the surface and inner layers of the plywood are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the central layer or the core. Commonly used are 5 centiplate, 9 centiplate, 18 centiplate, etc. Multi-layer boards can improve the utilization rate of wood and are a major way to save wood.
Here are six things you can grasp when choosing:
1. Plate grade
Solid wood multi-layer panel panels are divided into four classes, namely special class, first class, second class and third class. Premium solid wood multi-layer panels are virtually defect-free (individual minor material defects are allowed).
First-class furniture panels are allowed to have individual minor defects (e.g. needle joints, dead joints, wormholes, cracks, dents, indentations, etc.).
In addition to a small number of minor defects, second-class furniture panels are also allowed to have some slightly more serious defects (such as patches, patches, and board edge defects).
Third-class furniture panel panels allow for more defects.
2. Flatness
The front is smooth and smooth, not frizzy, and should be flat.
a. Method:
Slide horizontally with your hand against the board surface, you can feel the flatness of the board surface; When looking at the surface of the solid wood multi-layer board, it can also be seen that the flatness of the solid wood multi-layer board can be more obvious.
b. Identification:
Excellent solid wood multi-layer board, because of its good materials and fine workmanship, the board surface will be very flat and smooth to the touch.
Inferior solid wood multi-layer board, poor materials, rough workmanship, serious internal stacking core, uneven board surface can be seen in the light, and there is a convex and concave feeling to the touch.
3. The quality of the core board
When selecting splints, attention should be paid to selecting splints that do not fall apart.
Excellent solid wood multi-layer board, the core board is whole, good quality, and the seams between the core boards are tight; When you hit the board, the sound is "crisp". Inferior solid wood multi-layer board, the core board is spliced by broken small core board, there are many worm holes and dead joints on the core board, the core board is large, and the core is seriously stacked; When you hit the board, the sound is "muffled".
4. Strength
Lift one end of the solid wood multi-layer board, shake it a few times, if you feel that the board is very solid, it means that its internal quality is good and the strength is high.
If the board "trembles" and there is a creaking sound, it means that the strength of the board is poor. Poor solid wood multi-layer boards or boards with serious internal structural problems can even break due to violent shaking.
5. Thickness
Excellent solid wood multi-layer board, the thickness tolerance between the whole batch of boards is small, and the thickness of different parts of a single solid wood multi-layer board is uniform.
Inferior solid wood multi-layer board, the thickness tolerance between the whole batch of boards is large, the thickness of different parts of a single solid wood multi-layer board is uneven, and the thickness difference of different parts is even greater than 1mm
6. Smell and environmental protection
If the board emits a pungent odor, it means that the environmental protection of the board is not up to standard.
The environmentally friendly solid wood multi-layer board emits the smell of the wood itself, which is not irritating. However, if you want to determine whether the solid wood multilayer board meets the environmental protection requirements, you must also ask a special wood-based panel testing agency to conduct a test.
