Pine wood panels are actually a type of solid wood board. They are made by processing solid wood strips or blocks using specific manufacturing techniques. There are four key aspects to understand about pine wood panels, which also reflect some of their characteristics. These are as follows:

① Raw Material: The raw material for pine wood panels is, of course, pine wood. There are many types of pine wood, and much of the lumber available on the market is pine. In China, pine trees are commonly found in the northeastern region. Pine wood panels are made using pine wood as the raw material through a specific manufacturing process.

② Manufacturing Process: Pine wood panels are made by interlocking many small pieces of wood, using a pressure-clamping method. This is not a solid piece of wood with saw-cut edges; rather, it resembles interlocking fingers, also known as finger-jointed wood. Therefore, pine wood panels are made from pine wood using a finger-jointing process, and can also be called finger-jointed solid wood panels. The surface of the panel can be designed with various wood grain patterns. While solid pine wood panels exist, they are more expensive.

③ Types of Pine Wood Panels: Currently, the most common type of pine wood panel on the market is plywood. There are also some solid wood panels. Generally, pine wood panels can be categorized into three types: First, plywood, also called particleboard or chipboard, is made by hot-pressing thin layers of wood veneer (typically 1mm thick) together. It is a common material for handmade furniture. Second, solid wood panels are made directly from solid pine wood. Third, veneer panels are made by precisely slicing thin layers of solid wood (0.2mm thick) and then applying a decorative surface.

④ Important Notes: Regarding pine wood panels, one important point to note is that most pine wood panels sold on the market today are actually finger-jointed pine boards. Finger-jointed pine boards come in two types: visible joints and hidden joints. Hidden joints are superior, as the joints are not visible. With visible joints, the joints are clearly apparent. Furthermore, when selecting pine wood panels, it is essential to confirm the specific manufacturing process used for that particular panel.
